Services

DWI / DUI
If you are an offender who needs to install an IID (Ignition interlock device) or just interested in how the programs operate, the following is a synopsis.

  • You will be referred by either court order or by the licensing agency to install and verify installation of an IID typically within a set number of days.
  • You will receive information from the referring agency on a list of authorized and licensed vendors who may install an IID device that is certified and approved for use in your state.
  • In some states, a specific vendor has been chosen through a competitive bidding process or a list of authorized vendors has been established. In either scenario, the charges and pricing for the program and use of the device should be listed, published and standardized.
  • You will not be given the option of purchasing the device but rather will enter into a service agreement with the vendor for leasing the equipment and obtaining the necessary installation and monitoring services.
  • There may or may not be an installation fee and you will pay for your program in increments and in advance as you come to the service operation for scheduled service and monitoring. The cost of the program in the United States averages $2.00 per day.
  • You and any users of the interlocked vehicle will be trained at installation on the proper use of the device and what is expected of you to stay in compliance with your program.
  • Typically, you will be required to come to the service location every thirty to sixty days for scheduled service. This will include calibration of the device, physical inspection of the device, vehicle and wiring for signs of physical tampering and downloading of all data contained in the machines.
  • The interlock service provider will report the installation and monitoring compliance or non-compliance to the referring agency either through a paper report on specialized forms or through electronic computer medium. Your provider may or may not be authorized to discuss the data and findings with you. Please inquire.
  • Once you complete the program, the IID will be removed and placed in your provider’s inventory and your vehicle will be restored to its original condition where the device was installed.
  • Your provider should make available to you a toll-free number available 24 hours per day for you to call for service, questions or problem resolution. The authorized LifeSafer Service Provider’s that handle our products are primarily dedicated companies whose sole business is installing and servicing our products. They are there focused to serve both the needs of the jurisdiction and you our client. For more information on the nearest service location to you see Installation Centers.

Commercial / Fleet Program

There are several ways in which the LifeSafer ignition interlock products can be used in this application.

  • Long Haul
  • Local service and delivery
  • Individual employees
  • Sales personnel
  • Company vehicles used after normal work hours

Each one of these is an unique application requiring consideration of the “best” way to incorporate the use of the technology without causing undue issues related to normal operation and use of the company vehicles or equipment.

  • An oil service company or a local electrical contractor for example, might not want to subject employees to an alcohol test while on the job site during normal business hours, but rather only subject them to testing when they are driving the company vehicle on personal time or outside of normal business operations.
  • For sales personnel the company might want to allow a low level of alcohol use given that client entertainment and social drinking is a big part of the sales process.
  • A company might have a particular employee that an interlock becomes a condition of continued employment and an option needs to be available to only subject the particular individual rather than a group of employees to testing if multiple users of vehicles are employed. Or the company may want to have a particular employees activities closely monitored by placing them on a standard monitoring program.
  • A fleet operation with regional hubs might want to install and maintain the interlock devices themselves and would therefore desire a complete turn-key training and service program. On a large enough scale, the Safety manager might desire to link-up to the LifeSafer MIS to access all employee vehicle usage and data.

For commercial and fleet operations the possible array of uses and applications vary from operation to operation. Ignition Interlock of Corpus Christi will customize from a complete turnkey plan or provide a complete service program depending on an assessment of your needs and application.

  • Ignition Interlock Camera System

We now offer an Ignition Interlock device with a camera module. Along with a breath test, a camera is activated, which takes a picture of the person blowing into the interlock. It also takes a series of pictures as you drive.
